I am a multidisciplinary thinker working in the intersecting spaces of design, conception, interaction, user experience and making stuff. Currently, I am Head of Creative Design at Zone, a full-service digital agency in London. I work with some brilliant people on a variety of clients. From collaborating on multiple projects with the BBC to trying to help support 5 million asthma sufferers through Asthma UK to working to give nature a home with the RSPB.

BBC MakeSpace
In the coming year the BBC will launch their Make It Digital campaign aimed at sharing the power of digital for creativity, not simply consumption. Part of this campaign is the MakeSpace (working title) where you can play in an arcade of sorts, offering a variety of different opportunities to be creative with code. We began working with the BBC UX&D team last year helping them develop the MakeSpace concept and develop prototypes to build internal momentum.
This spring we have been continuing the ux and design of this responsive, web-based platform, working with their development team and internal creative director. At this point we have nearly completed user flows, site architecture and design of the MVP offering which goes into development soon and aims to launch in September.
RSPB
The RSPB came to us as a pitch with some very specific asks. They wanted us to do an overall redesign of their entire site (over 1,000 pages), but that task was second to helping them find ways to improve conversion from visitors to members. We looked exhaustively at their membership journey and developed an approach with auto-progressing forms that draws the user along, providing the added momentum they need to complete the process, and providing feedback along the way. We also rewrote much of their content to present a friendlier, and more approachable tone of voice.
To update the design of their site we isolated the core promise of RSPB, and that was a greater connection to nature. We proposed using HTML5 video to create a pleasant background for their site which would take the viewer into the world they are interested in with compelling video showing the majesty of nature. And a complete overhaul of their site structure, information hierarchy and design language.
WEATHER WATCHERS
Also connected to the BBC Make It Digital campaign is a piece of content we are developing with BBC Weather. This is a responsive site which hosts a community of weather enthusiasts providing crowdsourced data to track weather, changing conditions and share weather updates with their friends. The core functionality is the ability to create a personalised weather card for your location with photos, data and the user's information attached that can be shared socially and on the site. Deeper opportunity is built in, as well, to explore data visualisations, community weather maps and coding components that provide rich understanding of the interconnectedness of weather systems via a casual game.
